Scanning and reading

A field was read wrong. How do I fix it?

Open the receipt and tap the field to edit it. Fields ReceiptBook wasn't sure about are flagged, and receipts with flagged fields appear under Needs attention on the home screen.

Does scanning need an internet connection?

No. Text recognition runs on your phone, so scanning and reading work offline.

Can I add receipts I already have as photos or PDFs?

Yes. Tap the add button and choose your gallery or files, or share an image or PDF to ReceiptBook from another app.

Backups and new phones

How do I back up my receipts?

Open the menu and choose Backup & restore. Tap Back up now and pick a folder, such as Google Drive or your Downloads folder. You can add a password to encrypt the backup, and turn on Back up automatically to save one on a schedule.

How do I move to a new phone?

Save a backup on the old phone to somewhere the new phone can reach, such as Google Drive. Install ReceiptBook on the new phone, open Backup & restore, tap Restore and choose the backup file.

Android's automatic cloud backup is turned off for ReceiptBook, so a new phone only gets your receipts from a backup you saved.

I forgot my backup password.

The password encrypts the backup on your phone and is never sent to us, so it can't be recovered or reset. If your old phone still has the app, make a new backup with a new password.

Ads and privacy choices

How do I turn ads off for a while?

Open the menu and tap Go ad-free for 1 hour, then watch one short video. Each video adds another hour.

How do I change my ad consent?

If you're in a region where consent is required, such as the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, open the menu and choose Privacy & ad choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings.

Do ads see my receipts?

No. The ad SDK has no access to anything you store in ReceiptBook. See the privacy policy for what the ad SDK does collect.

Deleting your data

ReceiptBook has no account and stores nothing on our servers, so your data is deleted on your phone:

To reset the advertising ID that Google uses for ads, go to Android's Settings → Privacy → Ads (the name varies by phone).

App lock

I'm locked out of the app.

App lock uses your phone's own fingerprint, face or screen lock. If biometrics fail, use your phone's PIN, pattern or password on the same screen.
